Sunset over the Ashley, marsh-side cocktails on Shem Creek, and the harbor-light reception that closes a Charleston wedding.
Charleston is built around water, and the waterfront venues use it differently. Lowndes Grove sits on the Ashley River with the city skyline in the background; Harborside East frames the Ravenel Bridge and Charleston Harbor head-on. Marsh-side rooms in Mount Pleasant (Old Wide Awake Plantation, the Dunes Club, Patriots Point) trade pure water for a creek-and-spartina view that locals tend to prefer. The trade-off across all of them is wind — ceremony tents and microphone setups need to plan for it — and seasonality. Spring and fall are the gold standard; summer is humid and sunset times shift.
