What locals are saying
At 260 acres, West Ashley Park is one of Charleston's largest municipal parks and earns genuine loyalty from the neighborhoods surrounding Glenn McConnell Parkway. The amenities list is legitimately broad — four championship soccer fields, an 18-hole disc golf course that regulars have dubbed 'Fire Swamp,' nature trails and boardwalks through wooded wetlands, fishing docks, a splash pad, playgrounds, and a dog run — and the grounds are consistently called clean and well-kept. The standing grievances are minor but real: trail signage on the disc golf course confuses newcomers, heavy rain turns portions of the fields and paths into temporary wetlands, and dog walkers have long lobbied for a proper fenced bark park rather than the existing run.
