What locals are saying
Night Heron Park is Kiawah Island's central family recreation hub, consistently praised for its dual pool complex with water slides, a nature center showcasing live alligators and native wildlife, disc golf, and Kamp Kiawah children's programs. The loudest recurring complaint is access confusion: pool use is locked to Kiawah Island Golf Resort guests and Governor's Club members, so VRBO and third-party renters who didn't specifically secure 'resort privileges' get turned away, and off-island day visitors are denied entry at the gate entirely. Recent renovations to the pools, fitness center, and nature center have been well received, but the tiered, resort-exclusive access model is a persistent point of friction.
