Week of September 28
Indigo Road opens a waterfront Italian room at the Navy Yard, MOJA closes out its run at Marion Square, and a King Street hotel plan heads back to the drawing board.
The week's biggest restaurant news came from the Navy Yard, where Indigo Road Hospitality Group — the outfit behind Oak Steakhouse, Indaco, and O-Ku — opened Riva Mare, a coastal Italian spot on the North Charleston waterfront. Elsewhere, Historic Charleston Foundation's challenge to a proposed upper King Street hotel ended in a settlement that sends the design back for revision, and the MOJA Arts Festival wrapped a week-long run at Marion Square. Meanwhile, Mark Bolchoz of Cane Pazzo is taking over the former Dashi space in North Charleston for a new concept called Reenie's, and Poogan's Southern Kitchen in Summerville is closing temporarily to reopen as Poogan's Smokehouse.
