Smugglers Island Eats and Rum Shack

Opened on Front Beach in June 2021, Smuggler's has carved out a reliable niche as the rum shack IOP actually needed — part family pitstop for frozen drinks and ice cream, part open-air bar with live music once the sun drops. The Smugglers Smashburger (two smashed patties, pickles, white American cheese, house sauce) and the shrimp basket are the menu anchors worth ordering; the fish and chips and Mahi specials have their moments too, and pricing stays surprisingly honest for a beachfront address. That said, the vibe does more consistent work than the kitchen — heat indoors, occasional slow stretches, and uneven execution keep it firmly in 'great beach bar, solid food' territory rather than destination dining.
