What locals are saying
Azul Mexicano Downtown fills a real gap on Meeting Street — Charleston has never been flush with credible Mexican, and Azul earns its regulars with a broad tequila list, solid street tacos, and a Molcajete that arrives at the table with chorizo hidden at the bottom of the lava stone bowl. The margaritas, particularly the Pomegranate, are a genuine draw. Where it gets complicated is execution consistency: the downtown location draws a clear split between fans who swear by it and delivery customers who find the meat overcooked and the salsa watered-down, with more than a few noting the North Charleston outpost outperforms its downtown sibling.
