Why locals love it
The post-restoration Muni is the best $40 round in the state.
What locals are saying
Locals overwhelmingly cherish 'The Muni' as a community institution and consider its 2020 Seth Raynor-inspired renovation by James Island native Troy Miller a near-miraculous upgrade for the price — residents can walk for around $20 on a Raynor-style layout that Charleston's public golfers had never had access to. The most consistent gripes are the difficulty of getting prime tee times, overbooking and pace-of-play issues, and resentment over weekday morning slots reserved for closed senior/blitz groups. The greens are widely described as firm, fast, undulating and unforgiving — fun for many regulars but humbling for high handicappers.
