What locals are saying
Dudley's on Ann is Charleston's oldest gay bar — open since 1984, first on King Street for nearly two decades before landing at its current address — and its self-billed 'EVERYBODY Bar' identity has largely held up: straight, gay, local, and visiting crowds converge for drag shows and drinks priced well below the King Street median. Thursday nights anchored by Patti O'Furniture are the consistent draw, the jello shots are $3, and happy hour pulls in regulars before they head elsewhere for the evening. The room caps out around 50–100 people, which makes peak nights loud and packed in equal measure; bartender warmth varies noticeably night to night, and the Wednesday Melanin Magic show has drawn pointed criticism over a host's on-stage comments toward white patrons.
